Ballon d’Or 2017

The 2017 Ballon d’Or winner will be announced at an award ceremony in Paris on Thursday. After another stellar year that included a La Liga title and Champions League victory, Cristiano Ronaldo is an overwhelming favourite to retain the award. If he wins, Ronaldo will equal the haul of five titles won by his great rival, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi. There are some Premier League players in the running, including Harry Kane and Eden Hazard, so stay tuned for all the news from the event in Paris.

The highest position for any Premier League player this year goes to Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.

Another striker now as Robert Lewandowski comes out just ahead of Kane. The Bayern Munich man remains one of the world’s top marksmen.

Top 10

The highest-placed English player comes in at 10: Tottenham’s Harry Kane. He can certainly go higher in the coming seasons given his goalscoring form.

So, who will win it…and who will finish third? That’s almost as interesting a race in fairness. Kane and Kante still to come from the Premier League, along with the likes of Neymar, Buffon and Mbappe.
